The Chicago Hash runs on Sunday from Oct 1 through Apr. 30.
The Thirstday Hash runs on every Thursday evening.
The Second City Hash runs on every other Sunday.
The Big Dog Hash runs on the second Saturday of every month.
The Bushman Hash runs on the Third Saturday of every month.
The Moon Hashes (in yellow in the calendar, but it doesn't show up well in print) follow the cycles of the Moon and as such are on different days of the week every month. This would naturally create consistent conflicts with the schedules of the other hashes. For example, in 2014, 12 of the 25 prime dates conflict with other hashes. Having two hashes on the same day would just lower attendance at each hash. In order to avoid conflicts as much as reasonably possible, the Moon Hashes create a three day window based on the Moon cycle's dates. Whenever a date within that cycle conflicts with another hashes regular date as listed above, we automatically eliminate that date unless all three dates are in conflict. We have eliminated 27 dates of 75 optional dates so far. And as soon as someone signs up, we eliminate the other options for that particular cycle. Cooperation whenever reasonably possible. Whenever another hash feels the need to move a date, we are willing to try an find a reasonable accommodation, if we are asked. Almost never asked. We do have one real problem this year when all three of out available dates, Aug 9. Aug 10 and Aug 11 are in conflict with other hashes. We will try to at least pick a date that conflicts the least and put our hash on another side of town to avoid direct conflicts and make hashing available to as many as possible. Hope we get cooperation.
We also have a special event this year. the 200th Hash of the First Crack of the Moon. While we are not a big hash, we would like to have something special and ask anyone interested in helping us, to let us know. Thanks.
